I’m in a small room in an apartment for the summer and needed a desk to do work on after I get home. There was only about a 2.5 foot wall that had space to fit a desk and a chair so I thought this small desk would be a good fit. Also, I wanted something cheap since I didn’t intend on moving it with me after the summer was over.

Well, I guess it was cheap and a good fit size wise. Unfortunately, as I am typing on my computer, this desk is moving around like it’s dancing. I apologize for the bad comparison but if you don’t mind cheap plastic, cheap laminate that already looks old after 3 days of use, and intense wobbling as you type or write, then this is the desk for you.

Otherwise, I’d spend like double the money for a desk about the same size but at least stable.

Smart Advice On Replica Antique Desks

Phone is pretty cool. Nice design and replica with some modern functions of touch tone which is cool. I am very dissapointed with the ringer. If they are going to make a replica of a phone, they should try to copy it entirely. Mechanical bell would have been much better and appropriate. If you like this style and can tolerate the cheesy ringer, I would recommend getting it. You DON’T want to attempt to buy an original unless you have big money. A refinished one goes for around $2,500. Even then the original still doesn’t have a dial as these were created during the operator assisted/switchboard days. If anyone out there has one, you might be able to auction it for $1,500 non-refinished. Even the repro’s of this phone in the 70’s goes for about $350.

LOTR Lord Of The Rings!!!!?
LOTR looked great and still does. But my question is;- will it look dated in a few years time? Or will the production still hold into the future. I suppose this is a pretty random question but i think its relevant cos a lot of films from the early 90s look dated now which were once considered cutting edge. cheers thanks for reading. I love the Replica antique desks films and books tho.To prove my official LOTR geekdom(!) I own the following1. Antiqued parchement map of Middleearth as seen in the film on Bilbos desk. (£7 bargain from Musiczone leeds)2. LOTR 7 book boxset (books+appendices) (another bargain from a cheap bookstore in york)3 The One Ring Replica 24kt gold (ebay)4. Dragon with Nazgul Rider figurine5. Minas Tirrith Model (spectacular!)6. LOTR Chess set (still collecting)7. A Hobbit currency coin (!) (ebay!!)8. LOTR Top trumps (special box trilogy version)9. The Hobbit special version with map, postcards, and audio recording of Tolkien reading the riddle of Gollumoh yeah to be totally pedantic i have the boxset extended dvd versions of the films and unfinished tales. so there.

The package arrived damaged, and FedEx made a note about it, but the product was undamaged. This is a great value for the money but there are (IMO) some downsides. First, this pad is THICK! a quarter inch thick to be exact. Too thick for my liking but for 14 bucks I will live with it. Secondly, this is felt backed and if your desktop is smooth (most are, eh?) then this will easily slide on the desk. It needs to have a grippy backing, not felt.

Other than that a very nice looking desk pad.

How to re-stain cheap, “fake” wooden desk?
Ok, 30-some years ago I was given a cheap, NOT real wood, roll-top desk. In time, my dad painted. A few years ago, my mom gave it to my daughter, now 12. We’re moving and was throwing it away. Today she fishes it out of the trash. mahogany desk Lawyer She and her friends strip it down (she found paint thinner and scrubby pads). Most of the paint is off now. She tried staining with too light of a stain. While it was great to go down memory lane , you can see a lot of BARE SPOTS from where the fake look got scratched, probably from scrubbing it.After all that, I’d like to find a way to restore it, so she can keep it with some diginity, LOL. What can I do so it doesn’t look so rough? Do I need to just use a REALLY DARK stain, like Mahogany, or is there a way to give the look of wood grain?

I use a silicon mat with this tray, making it very useful for mealtime. Remove the mat and voile: it is a desk with convenient grooves for pencils and pens. The legs are hollow support pillars that create a space to store newspapers, magazines and the TV Guide. In addition, the central area of the tray tilts out to support books and magazines for optimum reading comfort. I like it a lot.

How can I stop fighting with my mother without giving in all the way?
Recently we’ve been fighting like everyday or the stupidest things. For instance we are redoing my room (which is rather small) and I have all of this furniture in it which she picked out from when I was a baby. There’s not enough room for all the furniture so the only thing that can antique furniture desks really just go into another room is this large antique (and ugly) vanity. The logical thing would be to get rid of it in order to get a much smaller desk but my mother will NOT let me put it in another room- even my father agrees with me. We got into the huge fight over it and of-course she won. I’m trying to get over it but I just can’t. It’s so annoying how she wins every single argument we have with threatening to take something away. That was just an example. We fight about what she says (she doesn’t remember saying things and then contradicts herself- mental disorder perhaps? :/ ) and other things along those lines.I guess I just have to continue doing homework on the floor…Any advice?
