I use this lamp for my computer as I am on it for hours daily! The design is very dull, like the previous user has mentioned. But I have no problems with that. The light is very bright and “white.” And it’s very easy to turn on. Did I mention this light is bright? The lightning also covers a good amount of space so it is perfect if you are studying, reading, or using the computer. Also, it does not flicker at all, like some fluorescent lights do! Anyway, the only con with this lamp is it’s design.

How to Build a simple sturdy “L” shaped computer desk?
I would like it about 28″ hight and about 59″ long on each side to fit in my corner of my living room. It should not extend from the back of the wall to the front of the desk any more than about 19-20″. Shaped desk I have no idea and cannot seem to make a drawing of what I need. any help would be appreciated. also, if someone knows of a desk like this already made and for sale on a website, please direct me to it.. I dont want to spend any more that about $150 – $180 for it. Thats why I thought I would get my own material and build it myself. Dont need no fancy drawers as I will put a 24 1/2″ file cabinet under one end. No sliding keyboard tray needed as I may add that later.keyboard tray needed either. Thank you..

  1. Lights a large area. Light can be directed exactly where needed. This product calls itself “EasyEye” — I find this to be the case for those long paperwork jobs.

  2. I needed a desk lamp for school and eventually narrowed it down to 3 lamps – namely this one, the Grandrich ES-201 EZ Reader Table Lamp w/ 27w Fluorescent Bulb, and the Verilux Original Natural Spectrum Deluxe Desk Lamp, Ivory.

The Verilux seemed like an over-priced version of the same thing, and I didn’t want to pay double just for the “Verilux” branding. On the other hand, the Grandrich does not seem to boast any Flicker Elimination Technology. Thus I decided on the mid-range EasyEye Lamp which, according to the sunpentown website, states that it “is controlled by an IC chip originated from Japan, which produces a flicker-free frequency of 25,000Hz.”

I just got the lamp yesterday and although it is a little bulky and resembles something out of star trek, the light is very bright and perfect for long hours of reading/studying. The included made-in-Japan Hitachi bulb was also a pleasant surprise. While I am a little skeptical of the “Built-in Ionizer” function, it isn’t at all noticeable and can’t possibly hurt to have running.

Although I haven’t seen/tested the other 2 alternatives, I’m guessing they serve the same purpose, hence it all boils down to your budget and individual preference. All 3 lamps aren’t exactly the most aesthetically-pleasing so if you’re looking for a pretty ornamental desk lamp, you should probably consider something else.

  3. I actually purchased this desk directly from [...] (through Amazon.com) because it was about $20.00 cheaper. The desk is pretty solid and enough space for all of my computer peripherals and more. It took a little over an hour to assemble myself, but would have likely easier with an additional pair if hands.

I was worried that the bolts would be cheap aluminum, as I have experienced with other desks, but to my surprise everything was solid.

  4. This computer table was much better than I expected. Nice stainless steel hardware, easy to assemble and very sturdy. I was very pleased with the overall quality and value.

  5. This desk looks great and has alot of desktop space. Just received it last night and it was very easy to install. Took me over 3 hours but I was doing it by myself and decided not to use an electric screwdriver to prevent overtightened screws or damages, yes call me cautious :P

Anyway, the thing that impressed me from beginning to end for the installation was the well packaged parts and especially very well-labeled parts leading to major ease of installation. The instruction manual is very well-detailed and points out exactly which part number and screw number to use at each step. Very idiot-proof in my opinion. All pieces arrived in great condition. The keyboard plank had a minor scratch on the rear surface but nothing to really upset me about. One screw did not have its head indented properly so I couldn’t use the Phillips screwdriver but thank goodness a bag of spare screws was included for each of the approximate 8 screw types. This is a nice luxury I rarely see other manufacturers provide.

My only other gripes about this desk are that:

    1) The corner surface’s single straight leg support seems to fall a little short. Maybe it’s my uneven floorboards but I had to untwist the leveling wheel to its maximum support distance.

    2) The 4 front legs also tend to be a bit sharp. During shipment they are covered by a black plastic sheath/protector. I usually wear slippers at home but I plan to drill holes into the sheaths and re-insert them before screwing the circular feet back in so that I would not accidentally cut my toes or feet when moving about at the desk. They should have made the plastic sheaths gray with openings at the bottom to let use simply attach the table feet right into the legs.

All in all still an excellent product and willing to give it 5 stars.
