Mahogany Desk Writing

I am happy with my choice and decision, it is the provider I am upset with. They shipped an item that was obviously damaged while in their possession. The packing was adequate (barely) and there was no damage to the box it came in to suggest that UPS mishandled it. It looks like it was dropped on its corner and, being a laminated ply (no problem with that) the corner is crushed to a small degree. Why didn’t I return it? I researched many of these and waited to purchase it when I was certain it was a solid, large (but not to large) and comfortable lap desk that I would use a lot. I use it a lot! To have to deal with any customer service or delays because of the seller’s carelessness was just not in the deal. The damage does not cause the desk to be unusable, just a little unsightly.
If someone asked me if they should get it I would say “definitely, but not from this seller”.
Is this bit from my first chaprer okay?
Hi I am a 13 year old girl and I would like some opinions on this piece of writing please. It isn’t a vampire story the genres are mystery,fantasy and romance which I know is a lot of genres. Thanks for your help xMy house was at the very end of Lerman Road, it was a small street with a cul-de-sac at the end of it, there was some kids playing hop scotch on the pavement. I drove my VW bug up the drive way, I loved my car it was my own personal space.My house was one of those new modern houses with loads of windows and en-suite bathrooms in every room, the door was made entirely of glass and you could see down the hall into the kitchen were my Mom was making dinner. I limped up the porch steps and opened the front door.“Hey sweetie, did you have a good day?” Mom shouted to me“It was al right I guess.” Okay so it was better than okay, I had a date with Zach but I wasn’t telling her that.I limped into the kitchen, it was bright yellow Mom said it was a warm colour that made you feel happy even when you were sad. Mom was an artist and you could tell by looking at her; she had paint over most of he clothes and there was canvases dotted around the house, some of them were finished some of them were only half done. I remember when I was younger I would sit for her and she would do portraits of me, she didn’t paint me any more though now she painted what her customers asked mahogany desk Writing for. Some might want a big painting of the sea but no-one wanted a painting of some sixteen year old kid. Mom didn’t just make art out of paint, every night she would make the food a masterpiece like celebrity chefs would do. If we were having asparagus she would pile it up into a little tower and stick it together with mash potato or something. She saw me limping and was instantly worried.“Silver! What happened to your leg? Are you hurt? When did this happen? Where did this happen?” I was hit by a hundred questions it was like the Spanish inquisition.“I fell and hurt my leg, no I’m okay now, during P.E fifth period.” I answered all of her questions mechanically. “Come and sit down.” She grabbed my elbow and guided me to the mahogany kitchen table which was cluttered with paints.“Mom, I’m okay really.” “Are you sure? Let me look at it.”“Mom the nurse put a plaster on it, I’m okay.”She looked a bit unsure but she let me go up the stairs to my room. My room was white, very white. It was filled with white furniture, a white chest of drawers, a white four poster bed and a white desk. The balcony doors were opened and my little sister Grace was on the balcony.“Hey what’s up?”“Nothing, just looking at the back garden. D’you think it’s big enough for a pool?”Grace’s room was at the front of the house so she often came in here to look at the back garden.“I don’t know why?”“I want one.” She said simply.She sounded really spoilt, she was fourteen and totally different from me I was blonde she was brunette. She was different from me personality wise too, image was everything to her, she had to have all of the latest clothes and gadgets. Now she wanted a pool.“Well I guess you will have to ask Mom and Dad.”“I already did, Mom said that she had wanted a pool since she was little and now she could get one. She’s gonna talk to Dad about it.”I walked over to were she was standing.“What happened to your leg?”“I fell in P.E.”“Gosh, I bet that was embarrassing.”“Yeah it was, but it got me a date.” I teased, she loved gossip. Her face lit up.“Who? Come on spill.”“No-one you know, I’m going to get ready I’m going out with Melanie later.”“Where to? The library?”“Ha ha I’m laughing so hard my sides are splitting.”Grace scowled at me then turned on her heel and walked out the room.I was still wearing my torn up trousers and my hair was still a mess so I went for a quick shower them pulled on some jeans and a t-shirt. I looked at my reflection in the bathroom mirror, I looked better than I did earlier, my hair was drying and was naturally curly. I decided to straighten it for Friday.“Mom I’m going out.” I said running down the stairs.“Can’t you stay for dinner?”“I’ll get something there.”I ran out the door before she could question me further.

Bought this for the wifie. She’s a teacher and does a lot of homework and loves being able to sit on the sofa and hold all she needs on this large and well made lap desk. The storage areas are adequate for pencils and such, not much more, and the desk is easy to position to the right angles for writing or holding her laptop. Quick shipping and the famous Amazon guarantee. Couldn’t be better.

One of the ‘pencil holders’ broke off. The construction is particle board and the screws and adhesive used were just not up to the task of holding the pencil holders on. A little wood glue fixed the problem is a few minutes then allowed to set overnight and wifie still loves it.
Update 07.06.10
I downrated this to a three because now, seven months after I purchased this item, the ‘finish’ is coming off, exposing the particle board beneath it. If I had it to do all over again I would hae saved time and money and bought one from a local big box store.
I ordered this lap desk with the belief I could get it before Christmas. Only to find out that ” Proceed to Checkout” created the order with Ground shipping the only option. When I e-mailed customer service (no phone number) I was told “No, the delivery time to your location is 3-4 business days.”
I WILL NEVER ORDER A PRODUCT FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN
