I purchased this as an ornamental piece for our reading room, and have not been dissapointed. It’s made of quality material and is very detailed. My kids (seven and eight) also love to sit an analyze the globe. They’ve learned quite a bit about geography simply by having it around. It comes with a nice pamplet on how to read globes, which is a nice bonus.

dose any one know a web site to search for history of antiques?
i purchased a old office chair today and began antique office chairs to restore it when i found a patent date of 1790 , i have also found the manufact. name , i need a website that well allow me to enter these details to trace the history of the chair ,, are there any free ones ?

    I have to agree with reviews below – the holes to attach the shelfs do not line up at all and you have to drill your own holes, and it does not stand level. But, it was less than $60, so I can’t really complain. I didn’t experience ay defects with the paint and wood though

    I ordered two of them. Both were damaged in shipping (UPS), but I was able to repair them okay. Also, as others have mentioned, the starter holes for the shelf supports were not aligned correctly. I just set the supports where they should be to insure the shelf is level. Assembly took about 15 minutes each.

    They were absolutely fine given the price I paid for them.

    I was looking for a smaller size Shelf Unit that wouldn’t take up a lot of space, both for width and height, but would hold a decent amount of items. It was better than I had hoped for and I will be buying another one.

    Maybe I didn’t read the description correctly or maybe it just wasn’t listed, but when this bookcase arrived – it was MUCH smaller and narrower than I had envisioned.
    That said, I was very impressed with the quality of it and the way it folds neatly when not in use.
    If you’re looking to use this for actual storage of books and documents (about 80 hardcover books)- keep looking, but if you’re looking for something decorative to display decorative little things and photo albums (about 8 albums per shelf) – this is perfect.

    Bought as a Christmas gift. It’s just as advertised: attractive, easy to read, well made. Great for the home or office.

    very nice globe ,a little more than i wanted to spend but well worth it,it is just a great addition to the kids room,plus the most importent thing is ,they are learning about other parts of the world we live in,an educational item that kids have fun looking up other parts of the world,it is like fun homework in geography,beets playing all those computer games.

    I requested a gift suggestion for two of my grandchildren … a boy 7 and a girl 9. This globe was the one they chose. It is beautiful and well-constructed. They were very pleased to receive it.

    I ordered the globe as a Christmas gift for our young adult daughter and was very happy with it. It looks antique yet it is up-to-date and a nice size. It will look great in her apartment as well as make a good reference tool.
