WARNING: Do not believe what you read in the positive reviews.

I bought the desk, as well as the side desk and file cart. I depended on the very positive reviews. These are truly terrible, terrible products, and all three pieces of furniture had fatal flaws. Now I have to return them and find something else. The fabrication, cut, fit, and fasteners display shabby workmanship and cheap materials. I’m a decent carpenter but I cannot fix fasteners that break under moderate pressure, badly warped tops, and badly ill-fitting pieces. How bad? The rails for the drawers are so far apart that the drawers just drop through. The fasteners are very cheap pot metal and three of eight failed in one piece of furniture.

I notice that the reviews tend to be old, while I’m buying in 2009. Perhaps once upon a time this was a good product, but no longer. You will be very disappointed.

Decorating with dark leather sofa?
Some family gave me great matching leather sofa and love seat in black for my new living room; super comfy and really easy to clean, I’m really happy with them. I have come across the dilemma of decorating around them, however, and I was hoping for some advice. The space has a medium-light wood floor and currently white walls (but I plan to paint). It’s interesting architecturally Mission desk Vintage since its upstairs with a low pitched roof. It’s not very big, but will fit the sofas, a media stand, a desk, and a bookshelf or two. I’m very partial vintage and aged/distressed furniture and accents, but I’m not sure how it will look with the sofas. I love the simple antiqued look, but I’m also partial to mission-style and danish-modern (1950’s, 1960’s era). I also like white and light (birch, etc) furniture opposed to dark stained woods, which would probably overwhelm the area anyway. Iron and metals are great too. I like earth tones or cool palettes.I don’t want the place to look too bachelor pad, nor too modern, or too classic-traditional. I really just want something clean, simple, and pretty! If anyone has any suggestions for furniture and a color palette, I’d be more than happy to hear them!
