Compelling Information On Tambour Desk

A man goes to rob a bank with a gun… he’s a crook. Yes. But what HP is charging for their supplies is equally crooked. I paid over 170.00 for this image drum cartridge and we all know it costs them a couple bucks to make. Making a decent profit? Fine. But they are making a killing. And it costs close to one hundred for each color cartridge. Mock products are sold for half that price and they do the job just fine. I’m sure the companies providing the “mock” products are making a decent profit…which confirms that HP is raping us!

REPAIR or REPLACE tambour on rolltop desk?
Recently purchased a rolltop desk… tambour has a 5×3-inch hole drilled through it near the top. (Previous owners drilled hole for power cords, Tambour desk didn’t realize that rolltop was UP and accidentally drilled through rolltop, too!) Any way to repair this (is it possible to patch with similar tambour?) or should I just replace the entire thing? Hubby even thought about extending the top with a wood piece, just above the tambour, to come down over the hole and hide it. Any good ideas?? Thanks! :)

  1. Instead of spending close to $190 at some office supply store I decided to take a chance and order a refurbished ink cartridge instead. Well, let me tell you, I feel like a complete MORON… for not doing this SOONER! Product works great and was DIRT CHEAP! It showed up in ONE DAY! Thats better than hoofing it to the store! I’ll definitely be ordering more ink from this vendor.

  2. I keep buying the original product- It works very well and easy to install.
The only complaint is that it is still so pricey compared to knock-offs.

  3. I installed the imaging drum a couple weeks ago and it works great. I won’t know how long it will last (used one) and how it will compare to a brand new one until it is used up. But, so far I’m very satisfied. Quality is great. Thanks Steve

  4. I tried to save money by buying a non-OEM drum online (half the price of the original). But it only lasted a few months, then all my print out had a dark black line on the edge. I didn’t realize it was the drum problem and hired a tech for in-house repair. Then I found out it was the drum got worn out too fast. The original drum that came with the printer lasted several years (maybe 4). It is worth it to spend a little more to get a real good quality item that will last. Now I just bought a new OEM drum, the problem went away.

  5. If I print out a long document, 20 pages or so, the ink is faded on the last few pages. Other than that, it seems OK.

  6. I was able to print over 12000 copies before changing drums. This included several thousand color copies. I did not get a drum low warning, theprinter went right to drum out. Once you go to drum out you can’t print. It’s a good idea to have a spare on hand. …

  7. After a false start with a bait & switch by an Amazon Merchant (where they sent us a “compatible” Drum Kit instead of a genuine one), we ordered a true HP Drum Kit direct from Amazon.

It got here sooner than expected AND it solved the streaking problem we’ve been fighting for a year now.

The HP products are more expensive than “compatible” versions, but in this case, you get what you pay for. (When you take into account the free shipping, it wasn’t that much more expensive than a compatible drum.)

  8. Our color printer, which we use every day, would not work. Our computer guru figured out that we needed a new drum. He discovered we could buy it from Amazon. We ordered it, online, and we received it amazingly fast and are very pleased.
