I’m not certain what was wrong for the others who bought this, but it works just fine for me. First of all, there was no glue used at all to ship mine – perhaps you just got it bad from the distributor friend… Second, this didn’t even come with a blue marker, but came with a black one, and it erases fine for me. Also, magnets hold to this really well. I’d normally give this a four star review, as it’s nothing amazing, but the other reviews seemed so harsh to me that I’m trying to balance it out.

In general, a good product for your buck.

  1. This purchase was worth every penny. I love this lamp. The natural lights works best for my fluorescent-sensitive eyes and the base is so small and compact for a tiny college desk. Great buy!

  2. This lamp is mostly plastic and has a cheap look and feel. On top of that, the lamp I received didn’t work properly. It only came on if you tapped the bulb “just so” and sayed on for about 30 seconds or until I moved the lamp. Also, I checked on line and a 13 watt floruescent lamp is supposed to be as brignt as a 60 watt incandescent bulb. I realize there are a lot of factors in play but when I put this lamp side-by-side with a 50 watt incandescent lamp (and got this lamp to come on) the incandescent light was much brighter.

Finally, I’m also not to sure about the full spectrum claims. I’m no expert but the lamp appeard to have a slight reddish tinge to it.

I would have given this one star but I figure they can’t all be defective. If you get one that works consistently then it would cleary have claim to the 2-star rating I gave.

  3. Cheapo light does what it’s supposed to do, however, flimsy and not very stable. Oh well was only a few dollars – so who cares.

  4. Great Lamp. It takes up very little desk space. It is well balanced so it doesn’t tip over. It directs the light to where I need it and want it. I can work late night or early morning hours at my computer with the lamp on and not distrupt other family members with bight lights as a ceiling or larger lamp would. I have nightly wanderers who use to keep telling me to go to bed so they could sleep. My lights were keeping them awake.

  5. The lamp looks great. However, the lamp does not work. I though that perhaps the first one was just a defective item or maybe damaged in transit, so I asked for it to be exchanged for another lamp. When I received the second one, it did not work either. Maybe it was just my bad luck, but that’s my story and I am sticking to it.

  6. Pretty much what I expected when I ordered it. The neck could be more flexible, but otherwise seems like a good buy.

  7. This lamp does exactly what it is meant to do, provide just enough light for a workspace or bedside. I like to work into the night and don’t like overhead lights because they prevent me from sleeping when it comes time to finally go to bed. Working with a smaller lamp that gives off light just where I need it to be allows me to get work done and not feel like I just stepped out of a bright light when it comes time to wrap up and hit the sack. The lamp also allows me to read a few pages of a book before bed at night, which I never really did before because of my “aversion” to bright overhead light. It’s also glossy and pleasing to look at.

Keep in mind it doesn’t use a conventionally sized light bulb, so you might want to stock up on one or two extra for the future so you have an immediate replacement when the bulb that’s included with the lamp inevitably burns out.

I reserve 4 and 5 stars for items that tend to surpass my expectations, but this lamp doesn’t. That’s why the title says “3.5 stars” It’s a good, functional lamp that does just what I need it to do and that’s good enough for me.
