What do you think about this duel between McGonagall and Snape?
I thought that neither had a chance of expressing their real magic abilities in DD, so since I had nothing to do, I decided to add a bit more to Rowling’s masterpiece and make them duel a bit longer. You might notice some aspects of Dumbledore’s duel with Voldemort here.Professor McGonagall moved faster than anyone could have believed: Her wand slashed through the air and for a split of second she thought Snape must crumble, unconscious, but the swiftness of his Shield Charm was such that McGonagall was thrown off balance. She brandished her wand at a torch on the wall and it flew out of its bracket: The descending flames became a ring of fire that filled the corridor and flew like a lasso at Snape —Then it was no longer fire, but a great black serpent that McGonagall blasted to smoke, which re-formed and solidified in seconds to become a swarm of pursuing daggers: Snape avoided them only by forcing a suit of armor in front of him, and with echoing clangs the daggers sank, one after another, into its breast —McGonagall’s next spell hit the suit of armor behind which Snape had taken shelter: With a Lion desk clatter it came to life. Snape struggled free of the crushing arms and sent it flying back toward his attacker. The Transfiguration professor twirled her wand magnificently and the Potion’s master attack changed course and smashed into a wall and shattered.Snape flicked his wand and a dense glowing ball materialized in front of him and instantly went for McGonagall, leaving behind a trail of emptiness and meaninglessness. Minerva only blocked the curse by summoning a golden shield with a radiant crimson lion inscribed on it. The spell, whatever it was, made a reverberating sound as it hit the shield and vanished in a cloud of smoke. Both skilled wizards pointed their wands directly at each other’s chest and from McGonagall’s wand there came a red and thick spell that met Snape’s emerald one in midair. The spells went in opposite directions immediately, Minerva’s hitting a sturdy pillar and Severus’s striking some hastily piled desks. Both unintentional targets burst and became aflame. The wizards, unconcerned, resumed their magical duel, McGonagall now waving her wand around her head once and obliging two dragon statues to come to life. They charged rapidly at the wide-eyed Snape as he cast a protective barrier around himself, blocking the flames that a second later would have enveloped themselves around the Potions teacher. The dragons were stoned again by their conjurer, fell and shattered —As the fire dissipated around the barrier, Snape found himself quickly evaporating the abnormal water that had just emanated from the witch’s wand. A variety of curses emitted from Snape’s weapon and flew at McGonagall in all directions. She once again slashed her wand and cushions of distinct colors that were all around the classroom occupied the empty space around Minerva through which the curses could enter. The magical abilities the witch had given the pillows incredibly fend off all curses casted at her, but neither flew at Snape, for he had absolute control over them as caster. He Vanished them whilst still airborne and avoided further damage to the already destroyed classroom. Both, exhausted, threw themselves in an armchair beside the other, laughed, and congratulated each other upon their magic.I didn’t want to make people argue, so I think we can all agree that they were both equally matched and there’s no winner.
