Blog On Drawer Desk

The tray sits at a nice level but it is sooooo loose! It bounces under the slightest touch which stems from a lack of rigidity in the guide rails.
It swings from side to side no matter how well you tighten the clamps. The effect is one of minor seasickness when one types. The tray is too deep for the keyboard and mouse even when adjusted.
My colleague says it is a “terrible” piece of equipment.
Better to buy a cheaper one of standard shape and have it mounted by a good carpenter.
What from my desk drawer can I use to crack pistachio shells?
I can’t seem to crack them with my fingers…….not strong enough I guess. I tried Drawer desk pinching them with a staple puller……didn’t work. I tried hitting them with the end of my pen……..no luck. Tried prying them with a screw driver………phillips head no good! I have a nutcracker but it’s in the kitchen and I’m not. Please HELP! I’m really hungry here.

Our administrative assistant ordered this for me, when I moved into a desk that didn’t have a top drawer. I have moved desks a few times since then and I haven’t given it up yet – nor do I plan to. It is great! I slides over almost any drawer in your desk, organizes all of your office supplies, and puts it at your fingertips.
There are slots for Post-it Flags with free Durable Tabs (680-RYBGVA), 3M Post-it Flags in Pop-up Dispenser, Five Bright Colors 375 Count (688-AST2), 3M Post-it 3 x 3 Inch Notes, Five Colors, 100 Sheets 14 Pack (654-14AU), MMM6555PK Post-it Notes, 3″x5″, 5/PK, 100 Sh/Pad, Neon Fusion (MMM6555PK) Qty-2, and tape. Along with many dividers – All of my office supplies fit and are organized.
The reason I only gave it 3 stars is because during the first 2 weeks I had it – one of the tabs broke off the lid that covers the tape area.
Recommended ~~ but be careful with the lid or you will break it.
I run a mid-sized office with 12 to 15 employees. Needless to say, desks become cluttered with the amenities of the modern world: post-its of various sizes, flags and tags, markers and highlighters, colored clips and staples, and designer elastic bands and ties. Of course, this means that whenever you are looking for something handy, you can never find it!
This desk organizer starts with two brilliant innovations: it is deep, so it holds serious quantities of your office knick-knacks, reducing trips to the supply closet; and it is expandable, which makes it infinitely portable and maximally useful.
In the illustration, the section where the big pink Post-It pad is placed really covers a secret compartment, in which you put a roll of Scotch tape, meaning you can skip buying a tape dispenser. Also, you can tuck important items: your keys, small change, safety pins, your broken earring, a condom, whatever you want kind of out of sight, but still safe.
And because all your important little items are so neatly tucked away, changing desks is easy and cleaning the drawer is a snap.
And finicky sorts who want their organizers installed with an east-west orientation instead of north-south (as illustrated), can happily march to their own drummer.
I cannot recommend this organizer highly enough, and I have seen – or tried – every organizer Amazon has to offer! And despite having bought 18 of them in the last two years (I bought one each for my husband and kids), not a single one has broken or aged badly.
The desk that I had was more like a table.. that is it had a front piece that the keyboard would not come far enough down to accomidate. Was not able to use.
If you are considering this product, you should know that a Microsoft “Natural-Ergonomic” keyboard will fit almost perfectly. However, in order to reach the back buttons on this keyboard, the drawer cannot be mounted with the wrist pad flush with the edge of the desktop (only about 10 inches of travel). As a result, when closed, the wrist pad still protrudes about 3 inches. This would not be as much of an issue with a standard size keyboard. I purchased this for my wife and she likes it very much. The keyboard tray seems sturdy enough, however the extendable mouse tray seems a little flimsy. If you tend to be a little rough on your equipment, you may want to consider something made of wood or metal. I do think this is a good item for the price.
The tray is solid and sturdy enough, but the mouse pad sits a good two inches lower than the keyboard which causes strain on the arm/shoulder. It’s not very ergonomic at all. I had to send it back after only two days use.
Concept C2 Keyboard Drawer, 20-7/8 x 11-3/4, Black/Silver
The keyboard drawer is great. I had a little trouble installing it because the template was for a regular office desk and I have a DIY desk. This is the second drawer I received. The first was damaged in shipment and I had to return it. As always, Amazon was prompt and courteous in handling the return.
I work 98% on a computer each day. Recently had shoulder surgery and lost the reach of my right hand and arm. This pullout was ordered for the keyboard to my computer, which used to sit on top of my desk. The pullout was easy to assemble and has worked out perfectly for what I needed. Would definitely recommend this item for anyone who wants to put the keyboard under their desktop. Have even used the mouse pull out pad on several occasions, but it is not padded and I don’t know what that will do to the bottom side of the mouse and its operations.
The keyboard draw works great and seems to be strong enough. The only problem was that the width listed in the discreption was for the keyboard not the total width needed to install. With the installition brackets included it takes about 3″ more width than the keyboard to install. I got it in buy changing to brackets I made. Other than that it works juist fine.
I bought this for my desk. My keyboard is still on top of my desk. I searched Amazon… but it is so hard to tell what they will be like when you get them at home… I took one look at it and decided to return it.
The same night my husbands keyboard actually fell to the floor (or should I say rocketed down from beneath his desk!) His was built in to his desk and being that he already had done some “interesting” patch jobs to his desk… I told him just to go buy a new one… but he is cheap! So he decided to use this tray.
He is pretty handy… but he swore up a storm installing this. The directions leave a bit to be desired. Luckily he uses a wireless mouse on top of his desk, because the mouse tray is pretty flimsy as someone else has already said. It would have been toast by now.
And he has a standard, boring keyboard with the 10 key pad and it fits… but BARELY and it does hang off the back. This is not deep at all. It seems balanced ok… he has never had it fall out the back, but it is perched there!
He has had 2 of the screws come out already (after about 4 months of use.) So he has had to retro fit some things. So to be sure it stays put it now does not pull out all the way and it is very tight… it does not roll smooth.
Honestly, I think that if you want a pull out keyboard tray that works well and is sturdy and will stand up to how much we use our computers you have to do one of two things.
Buy a new desk that has one as part of the design.
Or buy a drawer that is self contained that screws on to the bottom side of the desk with extensions that anchor it in other, multiple points on the desk. The problem is that these are usually very industrial looking and quite expensive.
When I bought this I was going to install it on my brand new corner desk. Which I loved SO MUCH I bought even though it had no keyboard shelf. I would have been devastated had I drilled holes in my desk for this product. I would NOT recommend any one consider this EVER.
However, given that my husband is using it as a “retro fit” product on his old desk I am going to give it 2 stars. It DOES hold up the keyboard. But the mouse pad is not functional at all really and we had to use more hardware to patch up issues that normal use created. This product needs some help.
Using a ergonomic MS Comfort Curve 2000 keyboard and needed a new pullout keyboard tray. This one fills the bill and is very sturdy and priced right. Only thing I had to do was to remove the middle back slide piece that keeps the keyboard from sliding toward the back. i found that lifting the two legs in the back to tilt the keyboard worked well to keep the keyboard from slipping. Very fast processing and delivery of order!
Well, first of all, let me say how amazed I was that I just ordered this yesterday and got it today! Wow! Fastest delivery I’ve ever gotten! Then, opened it to find it was perfectly put together, holds all my junk and even has a slippery plastic cup doohickie that handles either change, paper clips, etc. It is perfect and solid as a rock too. Not flimsy at all. Mesh, but hard and heavy duty. Best purchase I’ve made in a while.
This is a large, deep organizer and is well made and exactly as described. It’s heavy-duty wire mesh with a variety of sizes of compartments. The two plastic inserts make it easy to store and retrieve small items like paper clips.
This item didn’t work out for me. It doesn’t have a solid feel, the drawer mechanism isn’t smooth, it doesn’t stay in place easily, and its not easy to adjust without worrying that you’re going to pinch a finger. You’re better off spending a more money on a real fully articulating keyboard tray and installing it.
It’s amazing how good this tray is considering there is no need to screw anything in. Installing this tray only takes a few mins and it’s very stable (there are no issues with movement in both standard day to day use and gaming).
You need a fairly wide space for it to fit as the tray itself is wide and the clamps are on each end of the tray (as long as you have 34inch or more you will be fine).
The only reason I didn’t give this tray 5 stars is because of the mouse area. It’s a little small and it sites below the wrist guard (which some may like but I do not). Because its a little small I’m having a tough time finding a better mouse pad for my laser mouse that will both fit and raise that space up).
Bottom line is this tray is perfect if you have the space (34″ or more) and you want something that is a cinch to install.
This is a great product. It is put together well and looks like it will stand the test of time and use. The problem with it is that it will not fit! It is too wide for the desks in my house. I never thought to check that part. I was worried about how it would clamp onto the glass desk. (It was bought as a present for my mother.) If it was just 6″ shorter… and had I made sure that mom kept the box…. it would have been perfect.
Pros: sturdy, well-engineered, comfortable, adaptable, adjustable & nice looking
Cons: very wide (almost 34″ from outside edge of clamps) & the tops of the clamps may get in the way of desktop work sometimes
This keyboard is certainly one of the easiest to install (provided you have the space). It is very comfortable to use with the foam wrist pad and height adjustments. The height is adjustable in 3 increments. The slant of the keyboard shelf and the mouse shelf are independently adjustable in 3 increments. The guides are very sturdy and are of the ball-bearing type with just the right amount of resistance. The guides snap into the keyboard and the guide pins of the guides fit into slots in the mounting brackets so there is no fear of it coming apart. I would expect it to provide many years of useful service.
