My biggest complaint with this desk was the god awful instructions. I have put together my share of furniture and this was by far the worse. It works good for small spaces, which is what i was wanting. Had to brace it up due to my printer shaking quite a bit. Not a bad desk , if you can get through the instructions.

Who wants to criticize my story?
Okay, in my English/Literature class we were told to write a two page (double spaced) story on the topic sentence of “I found something strange in my pocket.” (the topic sentence had to be included in the first line of the story) Other than that, there weren’t many guidelines. This is what I’ve come up with so far (Don’t be too harsh on me, I’m only a 16 year old guy). I swear this is all original and not plagiarized. If you don’t believe me, then don’t comment LOL. Albert’s StudyAlbert found something strange in his pocket.Situated in the center of an old study and surrounded by shelves of dusty books in the recesses of a humbling estate in the country-side, sat an old maple desk. Sunlight was cast upon it, illuminating dancing little specks of dust which settled upon its varnished surface like noble drops of morning dew. Impressionist paintings lined the walls above, peeling.Albert stood staring at the poetic scene, with an ink stained hand grasping Maple desk the marble figurine he had just pulled from his pocket. His neat brown suit fit tightly about his tawny frame, glorifying his neatly trimmed grey beard and balding scalp. His pinstriped and collared shirt was stained by the same ink upon his hand. Albert’s pair of half moon glasses glinted in the sunlight pouring into the room through the windows high upon the walls. Polished shoes squeaked ever so slightly against the wooden floor as he reverently approached the throne-like chair perched behind the desk. As Albert drifted around the desk and clouds of dust to take his rightful seat, he noticed the object that had enticed his journey into the memories of his home. A chess set of black and white marble sat upon the innermost point of the desk. The alabaster and sable characters stood in various poses, each sculpted by what could be considered no less than mastery. Every figure stood proudly upon it in the glory of the sun, except one. Albert eyed the single empty square with a complacent smile. He sat down in his old chair, running his smudged hands over wooden arms, revealing its sheen underneath. He took a deep breath of the musty air, and turned his attention to the chess set.Albert placed the shining white queen in her place with a slow, solemn movement. He sat with his hands folded in his lap for what seemed an eternity, staring at the chess set with content as sunlight poured in waves upon him. It had been decades since he’d stepped foot in his study. It was perhaps an hour or so before Albert stood once again, the floor creaking against the strain he pressed upon it. He took a moment to survey the room one last time, then stepped around desk and left the room, softly closing and locking the door behind him.In the study he left behind, the sunlight began to fade, and the dancing dust and figurines disappeared into the darkness of night.By Zachary S.
